Books, books and a bit of cake….

Hello Bloggers/Blog readers/Awesome people,

I have just finished reading a book called Loser by Jerry Spinelli. He writes beautiful, emotional books and the ones I have read are about being different. Star Girl, also by Jerry Spinelli, is amazing and makes you look at the world in different ways. It made me cry because I’m soppy, but I definitely recommend both books!!

The other books I’ve been reading at the moment are the Stephanie Plum novels by Janet Evanovich which are super exciting! Stephanie Plum is a bounty hunter who lives in Jersey with her hamster Rex. I think there are 18 books and I need to order the 11th one. They a funny and sometimes sad but Stephanie’s life is VERY entertaining!!!

I’m writing this whilst eating so Ryvita which isn’t cake but we can pretend….

Sorry I didn’t manage to blog yesterday but I was worn out! A brief summary of our doings is typed here:

We got a Krispy Creme Donut from the train station then went on a Duck Tour around London…. Duck tours are were you get taken on an expedition round the most  interesting bits of London ( in this case however we did go on a Duck tour in Seattle which was cool ) in these special cars from WWII that can drive on the roads and on water!!  Speaking of war, we went to the Imperial War Museum and that was fascinating as they had exhibits about all kinds of stuff on such as, The Blitz, The Holocaust, Evacuees and much more. The Holocaust exhibition was sad but we should definitely learn from this! After all this we were starving, so we caught the tube and found a lovely Turkish restaurant where I ate a lot of fried Halloumi which is a type of cheese that doesn’t melt when you cook it and it’s lovely and salty along with some calamari and some chicken shish… Yummy!

Sorry about that; that  wasn’t really very, brief was it? Never mind. Today we went to this place called the Wellcome Institute (don’t worry, I can spell, that’s it’s name) which is this sciencey place and they had an exhibition on about brains, which is a bit gruesome but still cool. They have a bit about medicine upstairs as well, along with a collection of stuff like death masks and prosthetic limbs, shrunken heads and tooth necklaces! I highly recommend it.

Tallulah and Oscar got fluffy germ toys, which they picked themselves, as a treat from the Wellcome Institute. We managed to drop Tallulah’s in a puddle on the way home which was quite amusing, so it’s currently drying out on the kitchen table. Anyway, after the Wellcome Institute, we made our way over to Selfridges but made a pit stop on the way to an amazing chocolate shop on Marylebone High street called Rococo Chocolates and because I hadn’t gotten a stuffed germ in the gift shop as I decided I had enough stuff, Mum let me have ten little chocolates instead…. Hooray! They were luxurious; I had some ordinary flavours but I also picked some weird ones too like the geranium one. Then we stopped at a book shop called Daunt Books that is beautiful and looks a bit like a library.

Finally, we meandered into Selfridges (tis big department store) and got the mug Mummy wanted. As we were walking up to the doors we encountered a small brass band marching along the makeup  floor and followed shortly after by an impressive on man band! we also saw some plastic Corgis wearing crowns and headscarves and some brightly coloured plastic pigeons sporting very fine top hats…

Next, we stopped at a cute little cafe for refreshments and because I am a great sister, I fulfilled my sisterly duties and drank Oscar and Tallulah’s hot chocolates as they claimed they were full. Ha ha! Then we got on the next bus we saw and rode all the way until it got to the end of it’s route and got on another bus taking us back the way we had just come. After that we just walked around for ages exploring whilst looking for the right bus to take us home. Unfortunately that bus drove past us so we had to catch the next one. I would really recommend just getting on a random bus because it’s really fun.

If you have been to London before you will know how awesome it is, and if you haven’t, well, you should because you will undoubtedly love it. Just before I go I must tell you about a book I started after I finished the Deathly Hallows. It’s called Into The Woods and it was fabulous; I have finished it now and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The story was based around the Pied Piper but bits of other fairy tales were woven into the story. You may think it’s soppy because it uses fairy tales but Into The Woods is really thrilling and fun to read. It’s about three sisters and this magical pipe which is desperately being hunted by the malicious baddy…

Well, I have to go to bed now, but in the meanwhile, Keep calm and carry on! 🙂

Book time! Hooray

Hello! Thank you for all your lovely comments by the way….

I have been meaning to read the Harry Potter books for ages! I have listened to all the CD’s/tapes and watched all the films but reading the books is the best thing to do really. I am on the last book now, The Deathly Hallows and it’s great but my favourite is the Prisoner of Azkaban. Anyone who hasn’t read them really needs to!

I have also just finished reading an amazing, emotional book called Wonder by R.J Palacio about a boy called August who was born with a deformed face and it is about him starting school however each part of the book is from someone in his family or their friends view point and it’s an absolutely inspiring! I think we are surrounded by amazing books and literature but no one thinks that they will enjoy them more than an Xbox or a film but they’re wrong because some books are just brilliant. It’s great the way that they make their own worlds and people and that you make friends (or enemies) with them along the way.

I like limericks. I used to know a cool one about a crumpet but I can’t remember it any more…… Never mind though! I made my own limerick:

There was a young man named Phillip,

who painted a cow in acrylic.

The cow kicked him hard,

right out of the yard,

and that was the end of young Phillip !!

If you know any cool ( or rubbish ) limericks, please post them on comments. 🙂

When I grow up…….

I have decided that when I grow up I would like to be :

  1. An artist
  2. A teacher
  3. A movie producer
  4. A set painter
  5. An actress

in my spare time of course. I also have a goal that I am going to try and save the world, and not from evil squirrels whom steal designer scarves either, I want to come up with eco-inventions to save the earth. The word terra means earth in Latin I think and it is a very cool word. I am in the mood for list-making this mood may have been inspired by the brill Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot  . Anyway :

  1.  Terra
  2. Stellar ( another Latin one I think )
  3. Squid ( I like squid )
  4. Beam
  5. Squiggle
  6. Cantankerous
  7. Vello ( bicycle in French )
  8.  Tangent ( I go off on a tangent quite alot and this word sounds like an orange)

I am also reading The Mediator by Meg Cabot which is about ghosts.

We went to see the work house near Nottingham yesterday, using our new National Trust memberships and it was quite interesting however it didn’t have a tea room.

At the moment I am practicing my movie making by making a three person version of Romeo and Juliet which is proving difficult but fun! It stars Oscar, Tallulah and myself. I am using Imovie to edit my films and it’s really cool as you can add sound effects and transitions as well as voice-overs…  I am doing Romeo and Juliet at school and it is interesting; I really enjoyed Baz Lurman’s version of Romeo and Juliet starring Claire Danes and Leonardo De Caprio !

Rock, Paper, Egg!

At school me and my friend Keep cracking really terrible egg jokes! It seems to be all about eggs at the moment and we had a competition at school; We had to decorate the best egg….

Mum suggested that I blow my egg ( you poke holes in the top and bottom of the egg and then blow out the eggy bit). This was not a good plan! It took me about fifteen minutes to blow out half a teaspoonful of egg and then I accidently bit it. I started again, boiling my egg instead……

I tried to teach my little brother, Oscar , how to play rock, paper, scissors the other day without success. He looked at what I had done and then played a winning move or he shouted out what he was going to do and then asked me what move I was going to play. It was truly hopeless!

I have recently read a very funny book which is called The Timewaster letters by Robin Cooper. He writes spoof letters to loads of different companies and associations about mad stuff like his lost shoelace or beef scarecrows! One particular letter made me laugh very much when he claimed that if you squeezed the end of a wasp a substance called waspard would come out and that waspard is like mustard.

See you later

Happy Mothers Day

I am hoping that lots of Mummies are being pampered and filled with pudding today. My mum has been bought lots of Emma Bridgewater and has gone to a car-boot sale today….. I got some cool little nick-knacks there including an owl, a small white and blue cat and a pair of really cute pottery sparrows! Mum went hoping to find some Faberge eggs for twenty pence so she could sell them and we could all retire ( even though I don’t have a job yet, maybe I could retire from school instead  ) .

At the minute my latest hobby is drawing manga and it’s really fun! I have a really bad cold but it is very sunny outside at the moment. Also we are four pounds away from raising £1000 on our charity site we couldn’t have done this without the massive support from all of you so thank you soooooo much, we are all very grateful for your help.

Fried eggs are extremely nice and they are my favourite way to have eggs. What is your best way to have eggs? It’s funny because I love the white and my little sister loves the yolk of the egg! I love baking but I haven’t had time to do much for a while. There is a man called Bill Granger and his recipe books are very good, you should check out his books.

Bye, have a good day all of you people
